Months later, lindsey, ruth, and samuel all attend a summer camp for gifted students. Alice sebold's first novel is amazing. Sure it may have been a weak ending but if you look deep enough you'll see that there really is a meaning.
At the beginning my feelings were different because the crime was so dreadful and it made me so angry but at the end the killer just fades away into oblivion like a complete nonentity. It is the story of a teenage girl who, after being raped and murdered, watches from her personal heaven as her family and friends struggle to move on with their lives while she comes to terms with her own death. It just seemed that the author floundered around talking about nothing the whole book.

The icicle scene was simply stating that in the end, everyone gets what they deserve, weather it be good or bad.
